The Mission of the Student Committee

The TKHN Student Committee Mission reflects that of TKHN organization. By working together as advocates to provide resources, information and support we create a world that is accepting of others as individuals. TKHN Student Committee works as a team to educate their peers about challenges and illnesses.  To be voices for those that are in need and to empower them to build bridges to break down common misconceptions and stereotypes. To strengthen ties in schools, hospitals and amoung families and friends.  To develop programs that network within the healthcare and education communities to assist individuals in managing their lives.



Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: TKHN Student Committee is open to ALL young teens and adults, not just individuals that have a challenge or an illness. The local committee is for Cape Cod & the Islands and the online committee is both national and international.

*  Teens & Young Adults ages 14 - 22 years old
(14 - 17 year olds will be helpful in developing and giving feedback on experiences during the middle and high school years, while 18 - 22 years olds will offer their experiences and insights on transitioning on to further their education or obtaining a career)
*  Be an active participant committed to TKHN Student Committee for at least one year
*  Be supportive to members of our community
*  Provide advocasy to members
*  Able to find resources and information online and as well within your home community or   neighborhood for our members


Responsibilities

*  Uphold high standards of conduct within our community by following by-laws set forth by       TKHN Student Committee & Board
*  Maintain a safe online community for our members
*  Show courtesy and respect for our members
*  Work with our kids clubs by providing ideas for projects and implementing them
*  Provide advocasy & support through our local groups, chat and message boards
*  Provide material for our newsletter & website
*  Help with fundraising and events
*  Provide information about TKHN to schools, home schools, hospital schools and                     hospital playrooms
